๐๐ช๐ต๐บ ๐ฐ๐ง ๐๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ – In honor of the ๐ฏ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ ๐๐๐๐ง๐๐ฃ๐ฉ ๐๐ค๐ง๐ ๐๐ง๐จโ ๐ฟ๐๐ฎ, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Region XII has launched a weeklong celebration dedicated to recognizing the unwavering resilience, sacrifices, and contributions of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) across the globe.
Migrant Workersโ Day, celebrated every June 7, was established under Republic Act No. 8042, also known as the Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act of 1995. The annual observance pays tribute to the millions of Filipinos working abroad who continue to support their families and contribute to national development.
This yearโs theme, โ๐๐๐ @ ๐ฏ๐ฌ: ๐ฝ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฃ, ๐ฝ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฃ๐, ๐ฝ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฃ๐๐๐๐ฃ,โ highlights the unity, heroism, and enduring strength of OFWs, particularly in the BARMM and SOCCSKSARGEN regions.
The celebration officially kicked off on June 2 and will run until June 7, featuring a variety of services and events designed to benefit OFWs and their families including medical outreach, a youth sports olympics, and the distribution of financial assistance to qualified OFW beneficiaries.
As part of todayโs activities, DMW Region XII is offering free blood pressure check-ups and random blood sugar testing to all clients visiting the regional office. This health initiative reflects the agencyโs commitment to the holistic well-being of the migrant workers and their families.
The weeklong celebration is not only a tribute to the contributions of OFWs but also a reaffirmation of the regional officeโs dedication to supporting and empowering the modern-day heroes in BARMM and SOCCSKSARGEN regions.
